Wesley's Story

I've been working in the TV & Film Industry for over 26Years . Worked in many departments as a production assistant,Grip,Electrician,Art Dept. set dresser,Picture Car's for film & print for Fashion Catalogues worked in Transportation Dept. ,Driver, Transpo .Capt./Teamster # 104 wrangler's division for Movie & Television projects. In this industry you work crazy hours days and nights. Your average work day is a minimum 12 to 14 hours per day while filming, forget your 40 hour work week,it's crazy but well worth it.After Highschool I worked full time and went to Scottsdale Community College for 2 year trying to get my degree in Motion Picture/Film Production. There was little demand in this field back then ,so I never got the Degree. Moved to Omaha,Nebraska and worked in the Architectural woodwork/ Millwork business my family owned for over three generations. We did work in over twelve states which required a lot of traveling via the auto and airlines, inspecting jobs and dealing with contractors, owners and architects. I've also set up a FINE ARTS SCHOLARSHIP FUND at Saguaro High School,in memory and as a tribute to my friend CHARLIE PATTERSON class of 1971! If you would like more info,or to make a contribution $$ please contact me. Thank You , WES BLOOM The CPFA Fund has given out 14 scholarships from 2006 thru 2011. Flashback to High School !!!! I still remember the teachers strike my junior year and i think we missed over 28 days of classes,we had...Expand for more
tents set up across the street in the dirt lot south of the school serving coffee and donuts out of two VW Buses for the teachers and students who were on strike..Also remember one of the security guards personal vehicle{VW Bug} being moved/bunny hopped onto the front steps of the 100 Bldg. during lunch time. Kicking other students out of the Fine Arts building for smoking dope and cigarettes in the bathrooms and in the Auditorium so we would avoid getting in trouble. Well organized crew of students who created total chaos by chucking out the attendance cards. Other memories {1}the Scottsdale High students left a few tire marks on the Hand painted Sabercat Mascot in the arcade area at school. Didn't we put a few tires on the flag pole at Scottsdale High? Great piece of art work. (2)Hanging out at the Safari Coffee Shop and Cocoa's at night after football games, Fine Arts rehearsals at school and Sombrero Playhouse/Summer Stock shows.(3)during lunch and after school the ritual of drag racing cars up McDonald Dr. over the canal to Scottsdale Rd. and back.(4) students hanging out at the Circle K off Granite Reef Rd. waiting for someone to buy us beer or bottled wine. (5)Going over to Scottsdale High and watching movies in the auditorium on friday nights and home games for the Sabercats, then grab something to eat at Sambos,Hobo Joe's,or at Farrells ice cream and order the Zoo,someone always claiming it was birthday time!! It was free ??
