1967 was a very good year! It's the last time I saw many of you. We were told enjoy your high school days! You will wish you were back here in the not to distant future. How true those words would be from some of our favorite educators: Clarence Wiggins; Richard Hicks; JA Hubbard; Charles Wood; and MC Armstrong. To only name a few, I run the risk of omitting someone, so please forgive me for that. NC A&T was a wonderful place to nurture both my funny and radical self. Maybe radical is too strong for you HBU alumni, so I'll use critical thinker! If anyone (Isiah) tell you that I majored in the Student Union, it's all lies; however, I was bowling when notified that I was a candidate for graduation, and would soon have to leave my beloved university. Were they crazy? There was a war going on. Here is the clincher. The only thing I ever won, was my birthday coming out of the draft lottery, in Oct 1969, in the 10th place. The prize: an all expense paid trip to Viet Nam. I chose the consolation prize. Six years in US Army Reserves. During my military career, I made SP4 right out of AIT where I was a wheel and track mechanic. I was the TAMS clerk for my unit. Made Soldier Of The Year for my battalion.
