Wilbur's Story
After graduating from Mayfield High School, I recieved a full student-athlete scholarship to play football at ASU. After my freshman year, I decided to take on a more rewarding challenge and left ASU.
I ending up being recruited by coaches, Dick Vermeil and Terry Donahue to play strong safety for them at UCLA. I fell in love with the rich history as well as the beautiful campus.
I had a very successful football career, as well as a great educational experience at UCLA. We beat Ohio State in the Rose Bowl my junior year. 24 to 10. That was one of the most exciting thrills of my life. And at the end of my senior year, we played against the University of Alabama in the Liberty Bowl, Bear Bryant's last year to coach at Alabama.
I started off as a Journalism major. However, that department was closed down midway between my junior year. So, I ended up becoming the first UCLA football player to successfully graduate from their prestigious English Literature Department.
My career started in management at Coca-Cola in Los Angeles. A year later, I got married when my wife was a UCLA sophmore. She was an Anthropology major when I met her. ...Expand for more
However, I later convinced her to major in English Literature as well. Lucky for her, because instead of digging for fossils, she went to Loyola Law School full time, while I attended the UCLA MBA Executive Program on a part time basis. She is now a prominent attorney with the California Supreme Court.
Ten years later, we divorced and she moved the San Francisco. Six months later, I was promoted to Division Fountain Manager of the Northern Calfornia Division.
On June 26, 1999, I married a Metallugical Engineer, from Montana Tech University. We have no kids, but, we are happily married, and travelling as often as possible.
After thrity-one exciting and successful years with Coca-Cola, I was given the opportunity to pursue other avenues, while recieving one years severvance pay. I've been recently travelling throughout the country, the Mexican Riviera, Canada and Europe. My favorite sport, besides football is deep ocean diving. My wife and I prefer scuba diving in warm water over the cold pacific any day.
I would love to open up new lines of communication with anyone who remembers me, and would like to re-connect.

Wilbur Harden
