ANCHORS AWAY!............
I WENT TO SEA, TO SEE WHAT I COULD SEE..(and return alive to tell about it).........
Well, actually it was that or the draft.
My lottery # was 7 so......
6/65 - 9/65 boot camp Great Lakes,Ill.
9/65 report aboard the USS Klondike AR22, then 2 weeks later TAD EM "A" school San Diego.
11/65 report back aboard the Klondike till Aug 1968 electrical rewind shop and ship's company.

rable moments was aboard USS Kitty Hawk (TAD) Xmas 1967 watching night reps & catapulting off her for return to the Klondike at Subic Bay, Phillipines. Awesome moments.
And all the ports we hit on 2 WestPac cruises.
Worst moment was treatment received from fellow Americans protesting our involvement in VietNam on our return to the states.
Some actually spit at us for something we had no control over.
