William's Story

My story, eh? Well - grab your popcorn and soda and start reading. After graduation, I moved to Oahu and surfed and played. Then moved to Orange County down by South Coast Plaza and worked building race car bodies. Started back to school at RCC and played football there. You may remember the 50s diner Herbie K's? I was the infamous Moondoggie at that joint - hehe. Left school in 1989 with my AA and moved to L.A. with my would be wife, Shelly Rosenlof (Arlington '81). Got married to Shelly in 1990 (yep - still married) and moved back to Riverside. Had an adventurous 6 years and when my oldest was born in 1994 I decided to wind down the dangerous gig and become respectable. Fall 1995 returned to RCC to update some classes and Spring 96 had an AS degree. Went to University of La Verne 96-97 and earned a BS degree in Business with a minor in Finance. Summer 97 youngest daughter born and we moved to Ithaca, NY to attend Cornell University and earn my MBA. During my time there, I spent a summer in Detroit with Ford Motor Company. Finished the MBA in 1999 and moved to NorCal (still here) with professional gigs at Hewlett Packard, Senior Executive role at FSP (small company), and now a Sr. Mgr. role with Sun Microsystems (still there). Bill - Cornell?!?! Creecher at an Ivy League school?!?! No way!?!?! I heard this more than once. But yes - me. Turns out, I'm actually pretty smart, I just got sidetracked every now and then at Poly with the football, motocross, and cavorting around. I was a competitive bodybuilder, but got hurt right before a contest in 2001 - blew my knee very badly. Since then I've had 5 major surgeries and discovered Circus Animal Cookies and Cheetoh's - there's no going back from that black hole let me tell ya!!! My wife is a Hollywood make-up artist for movies and TV. I'm sure most of you have seen her work. She does do special effects as well...Expand for more
, which she has used to freak me out a time or too. Cornell allowed me to tour the US (a few times) and professional positions have allowed me to tour the world - the bad and good parts. Travel is fun and exciting, but it sure makes me appreciate the US. I ALWAYS look forward to coming home. Our home now - we are kid central. 5 out of 7 nights per week we have no less than 7 teenagers at my house. We have it set-up as being very kid friendly so they can watch movies in the theater, play air hockey, play the Wii or XBox 360, work on the race car with me, or just hang out and talk. We know stuff they would never tell their parents so we are kind of the central location for advice for them. Which is a good thing to be. Halloween is my big night of the year. We go ALL OUT and the kiddies EARN their candy. I've had teenage girls crying, mother's pee in my drive-way and run away leaving their children behind, strangers run inside my house to escape, etc. It's a blast and I look forward to it all year long - hehehe. The other holiday we go all out on is the 4th of July. Hey, I'm a Patriot what can I say. Specially prepped fireworks and a neighborhood air hockey tournament. I won't light the grand finale until everyone sings the National Anthem. Yeah - I'm funny that way, but the way I see it - everyone else should be as well. The nice thing about where we live is most folks are. In 2005, I got back into competitive drag racing and started my own business, Creech Racing Enterprises, to support the activities. Having a blast and am going to be doing the full travel tour this season in the new NHRA Hot Rod Heritage nostalgia series. I'll be in Bakersfield twice, Fontana twice, Arizona, and Vegas twice, in addition to the races at Sacramento and Infineon. So, if anyone wants to come to a SoCal race, let me know. My motto: Livin' in a powder keg and givin' off sparks.
