William's Story
As some of you may remember, I joined the USAF in my senior year and went on active duty in June 1970. First Officers Training School, San Antonio, TX, then pilot training, Valdosta, GA, pilot upgrade training, Little Rock, AR, then survival schools, Tampa, Fl and Clark AB, Philipines, and finally to Taiwan to live and Viet Nam to work. After 20 months I returned to Biloxi, MS to complete my six year USAF career as a Hurricane Hunter. While in Biloxi, I attended the University of Southern Mississippi and earned my MBA. Then off to Houston, TX. Started with Texas Intruments, then saw the light and entered the natural gas industry in 1977 and never looked back. Moved back to Dallas, PA and worked for PG Energy in Wilkes-Barre, and the company was bought by UGI Utilities. So, now I work for UGI Utilities in Reading, PA and live in Bethlehem, PA. Along the way I married my best girl from Easton, PA. and had two Texans while living in Houston, now a 28 year old girl and a 24 year old boy. Both arer tall Texans! ...Expand for more
Girl is in NYC and the boy is in Philadelphia.
My wife is a teacher and has influenced me to do what I always wanted to do: teach mathematics. I became an adjunct mathematics instructor about seven years ago at the Lehigh Carbon Community College, while maintaining my day job. It's a lot of fun and a great diversion from work.
My latest hobby is motorcycles. I'm on my second Honda and ride a VTX 1300R. I always remember Mel Campbell buying a new Triumph motorcycle and riding it to class at the Academic Center. It's all your fault Mel!
Otherwise, I like to keep busy and have a lot of entries on my "Bucket List".
UPDATE: Life is good and I retired in 2013. Finally bought # 4 and last bike, like Mel's, but updated from 1968, a Triumph Bonneville T100. Love it! A new hobby has taken be back to my woodworking roots: 3R Birdhouses. All environmentaly friendly and constructed from recycled, reclaimed and repurposed materials. What's next? I don't know. Please see me in Bethlehem - I'm on Jennings Street. !
