William's Story
I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life while at KHS and it took another seven years after graduating before deciding on studying meteorology. I retired in 2016, I spent a few years in the USN and with NOAA/NWS, totaling 29 years. I deployed to McMurdo, Antarctica, and to ChristChurch, NZ between 1982-1985 while with USN. It was awesome. a weather radar. They don’t call the southern plains, tornado alley for nothing. I arrived there in February, 1992 and winter exploded into spring early that year. I then moved to Eureka, Ca in 1994 and stayed there for nine years before moving to Ojai, Ca. Ojai is an ideal place to retire because the weather is great for being outdoors. During the spring and summer months I kiteboard a ton of days and during the fall and winter I mountain bike in the Los Padres National Forest. And that’s my story.
