Life Born in Fulton County, Atlanta, Georgia to William and Beth Hayes in 1956. Attended Grade school in New Orleans, LA and Richardson, Texas. Graduated J.J. Pierce High School in 1975. Entered the Air Force on the Delayed entry program on 16 Dec.1975. Went Active Duty on 29 Jan.1976. Attended Tech. School at Chanute AFB, IL and went on to first duty station in May 1976 at England AFB, LA. Attended Lab School, Married Wife Debra Lee Hayes on 4 Feb 1977. Daughter Michelle Marie Hayes born on 20 Dec 1977. PCS to Dyess AFB, TX in October 1979, attended Accounting School at Chanute AFB and NCO Leadership School at March AFB, worked RCC and Accounting. PCS to Anderson AFB, Guam in March 1982. Worked Distribution and RCC. Son William S. Hayes III born 11 Dec 1983, Daughter Jennifer Anne Hayes born 20 Jan 1985. PCS to Nellis AFB in March 1985, worked Distribution, RCC, Storage and LOX. Son Elvis Jackson Hayes Born 4 July 1987. Attended Cryotainer Maintenance School. Retired Active Duty 30 July 1992. e current NCOIC recovered from heart attack and again later from motorcycle accident. Deployed to Aviano AB, Italy in 1995 for Operation Deny Flight. Attended POLMC in March 2002. Deployed to Thumbrate AB in April 1992 under Operation Enduring Freedom, served as night shift operations super. Returned to Active Duty 29 Jan 2002 and PCS’d to Nellis AFB, NV. Assigned as NCOIC Maintenance, Distribution Night Operations Super and NCOIC Distribution. Deployed to Camp Cedar II, Iraq in 2004 under Army operational control. Served as Platoon Sergeant under the 439th AEF POL and NCOIC 439th Transportation Maintenance. Awarded Bronze Star for service in Iraq. Retired on 1 Jan 2005, 29 Years, 15 days. Wooo Hooo! Currently work as a DoD Civilian for the U.S. Navy at NAS JRB NewOrleans. 5 Feb 2006, Sunday morning 08:00. Two ARMY personnel were knocking on our door to notify us that our son William S. Hayes III had died in Southern Baghdad. Somedays, life just sucks. He was buried 16 Feb 2006 with full military honors and was posthumously awarded the ARMY commendation medal and the Bronze Star for saving his squad while on patrol 3 Feb 2006 from an IED.
