William Horn:

CLASS OF 1971
Massapequa, NY

William's Story

Little did I know, that on that fateful day of June 22,1971, the day that the senior class of 1971 graduated high school , so many things would happen to myself and other members of the graduating class. I remember both saying and hearing the phrase " I'm free! I can do what I want now! " Well, here I am, 37 years later, thinking back on that time. As screwed up as things may have been, I can honestly say that it was a more innocent time. In Plainedge High school, there were no metal detectors to walk through. There were no uniformed school security guards roaming the halls. To my knowledge there were no guns ever , brought to school , in or on ...Expand for more
school grounds. There were some after school fights and arguments, but nothing like it is today. Most, if not all of the teachers were good, some of them were alot of fun. I often wonder how we got away with alot of the stuff we did. I have to laugh when the teachers said " This is going to go on your permanent record!" Smoking in the bathrooms and outside the school was about the worst things I can think of that we did. Nobody ever died from a shooting or stabbing. It was a time that shall never come again. I am glad I was in school then and not in today's time. I wish all and anyone who may read this peace and prosperity. Thank you. Bill Horn.
