William's Story
Life
My Spouse
About six months after I returned from serving a mission for the LDS church to Chile, I first noticed my future wife Bonnie during a summer mid-term review session for an economics class at BYU. That class was the most boring class I had that semester and it wasn't hard to notice the tall, beautiful red-head up in the front asking all the questions. It wasn't until the end of the semester, at another review session that I finally met her. In fact, by a stroke of great luck, she sat by me because I was the closest person to the door she came in by that actually had a book open. We had our first date about five weeks later, were engaged a little over three months after that first date, and were married seven weeks after that. We have been happily married for over twenty years now, and have five children ages 3-1/2 to 19. We have settled down and built a house on an acre of property in a not-so-little-anymore town called Gilbert, in the southeast part of metropolitan Phoenix.
My Kids
Our children have all been home-schooled. ...Expand for more
As of the middle of 2001, my 19 year-old daughter Jenny is a Junior at BYU-Hawaii, studying computer information systems. My 17 year-old son Ben is a gifted artist and is finishing his freshman year at a local college. My 14 year-old daughter Elizabeth is a gifted pianist and dancer, teaches piano and will start college classes this fall. My 10 year-old son Chris is a bundle of energy, and loves to play basketball and read Harry Potter books. And my almost 4 year-old daughter Elysse is one of my greatest joys in life.
My Job
My financial services business has almost replaced my full-time job as the CFO of a small electronic scale manufacturing company. I became an accountant after deciding against medicine as a career, after my third year in college.
After almost 17 years in accounting, I decided to expand into financial services where I could make a greater impact in the lives of individuals and families and be even better-compensated for my efforts.
Only occassionally do I have feelings of regret for not having pursued medicine.
