William's Story
Life
I am married to the former Susan Porkert, RHS class of 1974 and have two daughters Katrina and Tanya. I attended Newark College of Engineering (NCE)on an Air Force Engineering scholarship, and graduated in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. I married Susan during my senior year at NCE, and immediately following I entered active duty as an officer in the Air Force. I left the Air Force in 1988 as a Major and went to work in the computer industry for Honeywell Federal Systems as one of two Principal Engineers in the company. When Honeywell was purchased by Wang, I left and went to work for IBM where I work today as a Sales Executive. I started on the technical side as a Senior Account Manager. I live in a new community in Stafford County Virginia, on a lake called "Smith Lake Estates". We live in a new home (2007) designed by Susan (who is an Architect). stom everything. We overlook Smith Lake (one of Stafford's reservoirs named for Capt John Smith). It was a joint project with our builder where we served as designers, and subcontractors for the kitchens and all the bathrooms. Susan's mom lives with us in her own suite. We enjoy being active in the local Presbyterian Church, where Susan is an elder, as well as working on our new home. I still love cars, although I have strayed from Chrysler - after 4 Chrysler products and a couple of GMs with a BMW for good measure, we enjoy our Jaguar XJ8 & Lincoln MK LT. We are a real close family and enjoy a lot of family activities. As of 2007, the girls are 23 (Katrina) and 17 years old respectively(Tanya). Katrina is a graduate of Radford University with a degree in finance and is pursuing a career in real estate. We travel a great deal and enjoy France and Hawaii the most. Hope all is well with everyone else. We have truly been blessed and are very happy!
