William's Story
Quit college immediately after high school, bored. Worked on my family-in- laws ranches in Santa Barbara County, one of them the Rancho San Julianis on the internet, quite a history. till I was drafted in 1966. Became an accomplished cowboy. Went to Fort Ord, Ca. Sent overseas to Alaska. Selected to pioneer computer systems in the Army. Made a career of it, Launched several companies, one you may have heard of KIA Motors. I was the Information Systems Manager. My team built the company computer systems, hardware and software, infrastructure nationwide, ports of entry, distribution centers, dealerships, sales offices, web sites, etal. Challenging but exciting intense and highly entrepreneurial. Consulting for many years, Honda,, Allergan, Mckesson, IBM Business Par...Expand for more
tner among others. Favorite consulting gig was the LA Dodgers. Developed system protocols for IBM. Traveled thousands of miles, raised two great sons. Still consult out of my home. No more travel. Been to the big city, seen the Elephant. Was not a good student at Morse, but found my way in life. It has been demanding but rewarding. Took six months off before KIA, went to Telluride, CO, managed a small ski resort, skied almost every day. If you remember Walt Millar, '64', ex San Diego cop. he had just passed the bar and we took off for the unknown. Walt was my security guard. It's Aspen West now, but a great place to ski even now if you avoid the celebrity genre crowds. Divorced, live in Irvine CA. Two sons, granddaughter. Staying busy and active keeps you young.
