William's Story
Hi,
I've lived in Dayton, OH for the past 30 years and worked nearly all that time at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base developing, managing, and sustaining Aerospace Weapon Systems.
I've been married for 20 years and have two sons. The oldest is a sophmore in college and he passed me up in golf when he was 12 years old. The youngest is a senior in high school and he was a better pole vaulter than I ever was when he was in the 10th grade. I can still beat them at ski racing since it is not their favorite sport. My wife is a computer specialist working for the local school district and volunteers for many school related activiities.
Earlier this year (2007) I volunteered to work in an Embedded Provincial Reconstruction Team (EPRT) in Ramadi, Iraq. After 6 weeks of ...Expand for more
training, I arrived in Camp Ramadi in May 2007 where my primary responsibilities are to help the Iraqis restart their Glass and Ceramics factories and to increase the flow of fuel into the city and province. The EPRT's goal is work with the Marine and Army Civil Affairs Officers and Dept of State to help rthe Iraqis rebuild the city, promote moderate Iraqi leaders, and help train and advise the Iraqi leaders on how govern. The Iraqis have made tremendous progress in the Al Anbar Province on all fronts including security, city functions, agriculture, fuel flow, education, health, etc.
My tour should end just in time for me to see my youngest son graduate from high school. Then I will resume my normal job function as a chief engineer on an Air Force weapon system.
