William's Story

Life Lived all over the world as a military "brat". Loved the multiculture aspects. However, attended too many schools for a child (eleven or twelve I lost count). Finally settled in our family home town of Prattville and met my sweetheart in Junior High. Dated her in high school and married too many years too late. More on that later. Had a blast in high school. Had the best friends a young man could have and messed up by falling in a trap from a girl from a different school. BOOM! Joined the Army to offset my mistake. Great move, enjoyed it immensely. Tried living without God and messed up (again). Took years to correct. Turned back to God for guidance in life and found (re-found) Debbie while serving as an Intel Officer for NSA in Ft. Meade, MD. Dated and engaged for 8 yrs 6 months. Resigned from NSA, came home married Debbie. Worked for CSC for 4 years. Worked for Northrop/Grumman IT as base webmaster for Maxwell AFB since Aug 2002. Have 2 sons, 1 step son, 2 daughters, 2 step daughters, four biological grandchildren 1 boy and 3 girls. Debbie and I live at home with her son Robert in Prattville. Been Blessed with family and friends since realizing God was with me all the time, I just wasn't listening to him. But that's like me, off on a tangent somewhere... UPDATE: 31 Oct 05; Had 30th Reunion last year, had an excellent time helping Steve, Kem, Shirley setting it up. Unfortunately, too many folks fell through the cracks and we couldn't find them. Created a new web site for class to let us know where they are: E-mail me for the address, let us know where you are! School After traveling all over the world as a military kid, we finally settled down in our family home of Prattville (family been there since before Prattville). I absolutely LOVED high school (my recently obtained transcript proves it (C,C,C,D,B,A,D). Spent more time enjoying than studying. I dated only three VERY important people in my life while there and as blessings would have it, I am married to the former Debb...Expand for more
ie Savage (Whoooohoooo). Went to our 20th reunion in 1994 and had a BLAST. Awaiting Steve and Kem to get the next one started. I promised to help them find folks if I can. College After joining the Army, and working for the government, college was a priority everywhere I went. Unfortunately, I didn't stick around any one place (except Maryland) long enough to keep it going. I went to Central Texas College in Berlin Germany; Augusta Area Tech in Augusta, GA; Merced College in Merced, CA; Cochise College in Sierra Vista, AZ; (still more); University of Maryland in College Park, MD; National Cryptologic School at Ft. Meade, MD; and Troy State University Montgomery in Montgomery, AL. WHEW! I'm finally getting all my credits together and finishing up my degree at Alabama State University where Debbie is getting her Masters in Education. Workplace Served 8.5 years in Army Intelligence active and reserve; Served 12 years as an Intelligence Officer for the National Security Agency (NSA) resigning to come home as a GG-12 in 1997. Worked for Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) as web developer and applications engineer until project was pulled and we were all laid off. Went to work for the USAF as assistant base webmaster for Maxwell AFB and was picked up by Northrop/Grumman IT as the base webmaster when they obtained the contract in 2002. Currently the base webmaster for Maxwell/Gunter Community. Military Did basic training at Ft. Jackson, S.C. (B-4-1) on Tank Hill from Aug - Nov 74. Transferred to the ASA school at Ft. Devens where I learned basic morse code and EW/Sigint stuff. Graduated Jul 75. Served at AFEES Montgomery from Jul - Nov 75. Went to Berlin, FRG working intel from Nov 75-Dec 77. Transferred to Ft. Gordon, GA from Jan-May 78. Took 6 months break to go to school and was recalled by Army to Ft. Riley, KS Sep 78-Sep79. Moved to Ft. Devens, MA as instructor in EW/Sigint until second honorable discharge Feb 81. Joined reserves and served duty time until 1991 when finally discharged.
