William's Story
After graduaing from CHS, I went to Ball State Teachers Coll. graduating in 1958 in Secondary Education, and obtained my Teaching License. I also, was commissioned an officer in the USAF. I married Sharon Lubaway, the week after graduation. In Sept, 1958 we were off to Tyndall AFB, Panama City, FL for training as a Radar Interceptor Director. From there we were assigned to Amarillo AFB, TX, for 15 months. I was then assigned to Itazuki AFB in Japan for one year. I returned to South Bend, and began my career in education as a Social Studies teacher at John Adams HS in Sept. 1960. After teaching for six years, I was appointed assistant principal. After six years, I was appointed principal. I served in that position for 20 years!!! Retired in June, 1992.

President for Marketing for a local title insurance company. In 2001, I retired again, and both Sharon and I are enjoying retirement with our son, Randy,and our daughter, Debbie, and their spouses, and our six grandchildren. Two of the grandchildren are college graduates, another is now in Law School, one is a Junior at Washington HS, and the youngest, is in middle school. Our oldest grandson, Billy, was born with Spina Bifida, and is autistic. He is doing very well, and is a special young man to the whole family.
WE are enjoying retirement, with the family, and love vacations on Casino junkets. We have been to Las Vegas, Reno, Tahoe, Biloxi and Tunica, MS, Atlantic City, Laughlin, NV, Windsor, Ontario, Canada, Nassau, Bahamas, St. Kitts in the Leeward Islands. So far, the casinos are way ahead!!
