William's Story

I married Teri in 1982. The most significant things we've done since then are Alexa, eleven, and Mike, six. At one time or another during our marriage, I flew military helicopters for twenty-two years, seven in the Army, fifteen in the USCG. During those years, I managed to put together a little less than six-thousand total hours flight time, save something more than sixty lives at hazard on the sea, interdict seven plus tons of cocaine and a hundred or so illegal immigrants. I got a medal once for flying a VFR only OH-58A helicopter in the clouds from near Nuremburg to Hohenfels, Germany, and not dying. I served as an education/training officer in both the Army an...Expand for more
d Coast Guard. I taught classes ranging from flight regulations, to online database operations, to Stephen R. Covey's "Seven Habits for Highly Effective People" (the "Seven Habits claim is almost specious. I stood up and introduced a video presentation because the real instructors wanted the students to get some practice. The other stuff I did regularly). I was awarded an MA in English on Groundhog Day, 2010. I'm also marketing two novel length fantasy manuscripts - Split Affinity and Zook Country - while writing a third, mil-SF which I'm calling Mutiny on Hellespont. I sold Zook Country in Germany, under the title Zookland. It should be published in spring of 2010.
