William's Story
Life
Upon graduation from CHS, I entered the US Air Force and retired from a 20 year career. The Air Force took me around the country and many corners of the world. Being part of the intelligence community, I was blessed with assignments in Greece and Panama, and many trips to Europe and the Far East. Studying the Arabic language in the Air Force gave me a kick start on getting a degree. This allowed me to serve 10 years enlisted and then 10 years as an officer. I served overseas in Greece and Panama as well as stateside in MD, TX, CA, and NV. My military duties and consulting efforts have also taken me to Japan, Guam, Vienna, London, Heidelberg, Landstuhl, Stuttgart, Naples, Okinawa and Seoul. Could never get an assignment back to FL.
Since retiring from the Air Force in 1990, I have been a technology consultant first with Booz Allen Hami...Expand for more
lton and then Deloitte Consulting in the Wash, DC area. While I was fortunate to be out of the Pentagon at the time, I lost 3 coworkers and one client in the 9/11 crash at the Pentagon.
I married Joyce Marie Jones of Gastonia NC in 1971 and we are the parents of two daughters (Amy & Peggy) and one son (Jason). All are grown and the two girls are both married. We have been blessed with 7 grandchildren (5 boys/2 girls).
School
My 4 years at CHS were highlighted by my time in the marching band and orchestra. Mr Yanetovich was a constant source of amusement as we explored creative ways to aggravate him. However, one can not forget the statewide teacher's strike in 1968 that put us on split sessions. Because of that I developed an addiction to soap operas like the Young & Restless. I don't think I missed a football game in all fours years.
