William's Story
Life
I retired as a fourth grade teacher in San Bernardino City Unified School District in August of 2007. Prior to that, I also taught first grade, and middle school math. Middle school was like a combat zone, but I absolutely loved working with elementary students. It took awhile to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up, but I finally made it. I had the world's best job! I was listed in the 2005, 2006, and 2007 editions of Who's Who Among America's Teachers. This was a special privilege for me because I was nominated by former students who are honor high school students now. They had to select one teacher from their entire educational career and nominated me. What an honor! I keep telling people it wasn't about the money. I am blessed.
If I won $100 million, I'd give half of it to various charities, then spend the rest on family , loved ones and buy a bigger home with my own wood sho...Expand for more
p. I would have to have a Mustang GT500KR, and perhaps a Corvette ZO6. I may have to throw in a Ferrari or Lambergini I can dream can't I?
I share my home with my wife, who I find to be the most fascinating and loving person I've ever known.
In 10 years, I hope to be alive. I'm going to get there by taking good care of my body and mind.
A memory from high school that sticks in my mind is when Terry Strunk broke Coach Isaacson's leg during football practice, and the coach made Terry push him around in hiss wheelchair. Go Spiderman. Wish you were still here with us. Scott Elmore and I attended Terry's Funeral service at Riverside National Cemetery and although it was a sad occasion, it was also a comedy of errors. Strunk would have laughed at the irony.
I'd like to add that I am happier right now (1/1/10) than I have ever in my life been. I believe I've finally learned the meaning of Carpe diem!
