William's Story

The picture above is of my wife and myself in 2007 on a trip to Vietnam with Backroads. I didn't put in the high school picture because I have not been able to find it yet (renovating our home office). For some reason, I did not hear about the 50th reunion so, of course, I did not attend. Someone sent me a newspaper clipping of those of you who attended the event and without first reading the tag line, I said "who the heck are these old people?". After reading the tag line, I came, all too soon, to realize that THEY were ME. I just turned 69 in December and still can't believe that I'm that old.
As a brief summary, I went to Keystone after Central and then to Bloomsburg for a BS in education. I spent my first years out of college as a teacher in NJ. After my Masters degree, I ...Expand for more
worked for some time with the State Department of Education before starting a consulting business in research evaluation and technology in 1980. In the early 1980s, we started to develop software for microcomputers (Apples and PCs), and a business emerged which was directed at schools and, in particular, at the special education side of educational systems. That company was ultimately acquired in 2000.
Both my wife and I retired as of May 1, 2007. Between us, we have 3 boys and 2 girls and 9 grandchildren. As the above picture might imply, we do quite a bit of traveling and are fairly active in terms of things like biking and skiing. My wife Barbara is currently coordinating her 50th reunion with, believe it or not, 1100 graduates (compared to the 400 in our class) for Taft HS in NYC.
