William's Story

It's been awhile. Hope these passing years have been kind to you. Not too bad for me. I will try to update you on the intervening years. Bob Fowler and I we were going to drop out of school and join the Marine Corps together. He was 18 and didn't need his parents permission. I was still 17 and did. Bob disappeared; don't know what happened to him. I went in upon graduation in July of 67. Was lucky and didn't get to Viet Nam until 70/71. My father retired during that time and moved to Oklahoma. When I got out ended going there. Went to the University of Tulsa. Got a degree in Anthropology and promptly went back into the Marine Corps. In 1975 still hard feelings with most civilians.Got an officers' commission. Went here there and everywhere, retiring in 91 as a Major. Went to Ecuador , South America for a couple of years. When I came back I ended up in Colorado where I froze my ass off for about 8 years. So I decided to go to Tucson, Arizona; where I fried my ass off for another 10 or 12 years. ith this ephiffiny. Spring Break Fort Lauderdale, Florida 1967. Do you remember how utterly crazy that was . Only a few other times in my sheltered life have I come close to replicating those times . 3 days liberty in Old San Juan Puerto Rico and a few times in Korea. I wish I could remember. Needless to say with an attitude like that I was better off not getting married and I never did. Anyway we did have a great time in Fort LaLa Land. You are probably bored about this time so I' ill make a few requests. Would you please forward this to Larry and Skip and anyone else you think may have some interest. also Bob Fowler he was Center on the football team for Groves. It would be nice to know what happened to him. Two personal requests: Kathy Rabette/I really screwed up on that one and Miss Peggy Farnsworth/. She was going with a friend of mine and I had a little crush on her. I remember she came by to see me the night before I had to report for Boot Camp. Anyway it was good to hear from you. I'll try to be a little more responsive then every 50 years from now on. take care and I hope to hear from you again soon. Bill
