William's Story
Life
I married Kathy Stehman of Greeley, CO in 1978. I graduated from Bartlesville Wesleyan College in Bartlesville, OK with a BA in Theology in 1980. After graduating from college, I spent a couple months as an assistant minister in Fredonia, KS and then a year at my home church, 1st Wesleyan, in Sturgis. I enlisted in the Air Force in 1982, spending 3 years in Security Forces at McChord AFB, WA. I was selected to a commissioning program and earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University in 1987. After receiving my commission in 1988, I spent 2 years at March AFB, CA and 2 years at Lajes AB, Azores, Portugal, all as a mechanical design engineer. I was selected for a graduate program in Environmental Engineering Management, earning an MS degree in 1993 from the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. ack home in 1998. I was the Chief of Maintenance Engineering until I retired in Sep 2002. I sold real estate for about a year before hiring on at EAFB as a mechanical engineer. After 2.5 years I volunteered for a ministry that was building an orphanage near Vicuna, Chile. We moved to Chile in Mar 2006. Our stay was much shorter than anticipated due to unforeseen family problems that brought us back to SD after just 5 months. I was unemployed, working on rental units that I owned until I was hired as Deputy Chief of Maintenance Engineering at McChord AFB, WA in Sep 2007. In Oct 2010 McChord AFB and Ft Lewis became Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM). I am currently a mechanical systems manager at JBLM. We've homeschooled our seven children, three boys and four girls, throughout their school years. Our last is 15 with two years left to go. Kathy is ready to retire from homeschooling! We're enjoying life, praising and glorifying God for His many blessings to us! Would certainly love to hear from friends and classmates.
