William's Story
I cannot believe its been almost 40 years since Latin class with Mr. Barra at Huntington High School! Hope some of you remember me--Bill Schaefer--also known as willie the whip back then. I was a poor tennis player (serving as manager of the team), a reasonably good Class Treasurer (no embezzlement), and (for which I apologize) a Teen Age republican (I have thoroughly reformed). I lived on Cove Road in Halesite.
Beyond being suspended for one day for participating in a walkkout of Mr. Barra's Latin Class (the Ides of March), I navigated Huntington High with relatively few problems.

pon my graduation, I went to George Washington University and Rutgers University before taking my Ph.D. at American University and became a professor of Political Science for some 10 years. I then decided on law school and spent fifteen years prosecuting organized crime cases in San Francisco.
In 2001 I took early retirement and came back to Long Island and live in Old Field, New York where I teach at local colleges, travel around the world whenever I can, and enjoy life.
If anyone is interested in saying hello, please contact me--I am looking forward to the 40th high school reunion.
