Bill's Story
Life
Retirement is great. Just kicking it in Northeast Alabama. It is gorgeous here, folks. Ya'll come see us, hear. "Semper Super-De-Duper!
School
Thank God we didn't have much in the way of drugs back then. Still, though, wish I had paid more attention to academics. But most of all, wish I had made Music Masters. "Semper Simper."
College
Riding the yellow bus from the corner of 18th & A street in Antioch to DVC; thinking about girls; Cardiac hill; drinking boiler-makers in the parking lot; the student lounge; thinking about girls; Bill Sheets (sp) as the campus DJ; spring semester when the girls went bra-less and wore short skirts; giggling when the ducks would copulate while we tried to eat lunch; thinking about girls; admiring Fritz Pearl; loathing Coral Bloom; sitting on the lawn and watching airpl...Expand for more
anes land at Buchanan Field; trying to ignore Viet Nam; thinking about girls. "Semper Amore."
Workplace
Thirty years with Con Fire, unbelievable. Way too many experiences to share here. Life is the most precious gift, it can be snuffed out in a second. Let's live it to the full. "Semper Fortis!"
Military
Along with Glenn Westberry, started Marine Corps boot camp on 5 October 1967. Glenn went to Vietnam as an 0311, infantryman, where he earned a couple of purple hearts. I went to Aviation Ordnanceman school, ended up burning shitters in Da Nang. Also assembled bombs, mixed napalm and assembled rockets. Finally ended up as the clerk for MAG-11 Bomb Dump. Taking that typing class at D.V.C. paid off. In closing, "If you can read, thank a teacher; if you can read English, thank a Marine." "Semper Fi!"
