Willie's Story
I graduated from Belleville East in 1985; went to BAC for a while then decided to join the United States Marine Corps. I did 30 years in the Marines and loved every minute of it! I retired in October of 2016 with an honorable discharge and a Legion of Merit for my service, I subsequently started teaching Naval Science (NJROTC) at a title 1 High School in Lancaster California where I purchased my first and only home. I am divorced and have a 12 year old son who spends most of the time at my house. His mother lives about 30 minutes away. He is an awesome son! He has completed every Rubik's Cube out there from a 2x2 all the way up to a 17x17 which is the largest mass produced Rubik's Cube in existence. He is very smart and athletic and I am...Expand for more
a proud father. I am blessed to have such a great son! When I'm not teaching I spend most of my time doing community service and helping out the LA County Sheriffs Department with "at-risk" youth in the VIDA Program (Vital Intervention and Directional Alternatives). I am at the gym often and I enjoy staying in decent shape. The Marine Corps was a big part of that mindset! I will do 2-3 more years of teaching before possibly getting into local politics. My desire is to assist in the process of improving peoples quality of life through education, programs and more. I look forward to catching up with some of my old friends from High School. I also look forward to a future High School reunion if there is one within the next 3-5 years.
