Gene's Story
Left North High went to college at Fisk. Graduated with a degree in Economics and Math. Went to Chicago for 6 years. Had a very crazy life but it was fun. When I was at Fisk there was this young lady - wow is all I can say. I never knew her but always admired who and what she was - smart, nice and so beautiful. To my surprise she worked at the same place that hired me in Chicago. She was certainly the woman of my dreams. We became best friends. I found she was even more special than I had imagined. To my surpise she felt the same. So here we are some 30 years later still happily married.
I currently live in Southlake, TX. That's between Dallas and Ft. Worth. Been here 30+ years. We have two great kids. My son lives in IN and drives bull dozers. My daughter lives in Virginia and is an Electrical Engineer with Boeing. Both seem happy and that's all that matters to me. It strange to have moved from being the youngest generation to the oldest. myself. Yet they have so much more opportunity than we had. That's a very good thing.
The wife and I are both hard working executives with too few hours in the day. I am a private pilot and love to cook. Cheryl loves music and gardening. She can really whip a piano. I could have never imagined back in North High that this is where I would end. I have seen and done things I would have never imagined. There have been unbelevable highs and some lows but that's just life. All in all life has been wonderful. Always a challenge but still wonderful.
I often think about Nashville and those days at North High - so long ago but such sweet memories. When I go to Nashville it saddens me that North is gone. Many people don't think people in these lives make a difference but that's not true for me. All of my fellow North students made a difference in my life. I see your faces often in my mind. I sincerely hope life have been all you expected and more.
