WORK
.
I retired from the US Navy in 1977 as a senior petty officer,
and then retired from the aero-space industry in 1995.
I currently reside in Yuma AZ., and do a lot of traveling in my RV.
Workplace
I retired from the Navy in 1977 as leading Radioman for Submarine Develepment Group 1 and went into the aero-space industry. Working for General Dynamics Electronics, followed by Bendix aero-space finishing with Hughes Electronics, working my way up from bench technician to production manager. In 1995 I had to quit work due to Heart problems. Spent the next year in a wheel chair waiting for a transplant. But I fooled everyone. In 1997 my pump started to improve and I came off the transplant list. I still take a lot of medication, but I have a good quality of life. I tried to go back to work this year out of bordom. Went out and got my CDL and started OT...Expand for more
R driving.
But the heart wouldn't take it and I wound up back in the hospital for one month. Just taking it easy now. I am picking up the story again, it is now 2011. I completed a year of heart rehab and then went out and bought my own rig, that was in 2000, retired last year for good with 1 million miles on my rig, hauling produce from west coast to all points east. I now feel that I have seen the world. I would come through Livermore every now and then but usually late at night when you could slip a big rig down 1st street without getting spotted, couldn't believe the changes. One night I came thru about 1 in the AM and the flag pole was down,--whats with that? didn't seem right. They were working on it, did it ever go back up?
I just got hammered by the old lady for leaving out a few significant details...so here goes---while in the navy I made three trips to Viet Nam, never putting my boots on the ground, but involved in the gathering of intel and putting Seal Teams ashore. I also had the pleasure of one trip to Santas home at the North Pole. And after retirement from the Navy and working with Hughes electronics I spent 1 year in Saudi Arabia teaching at the Saudi .Naval Academy in Al Jubail. and that is just about it.
