Wilma's Story
I always wanted to be a success when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were right.
After graduation, I journeyed to Washington, DC to work for the Dept of Agriculture (civil service employee). There I met and married my spouse, Michael Allman from Knoxville, TN who was working in the DC area. We didn't plan to stay around that area since it was expensive and also we didn't want to raise our children in a large city. In 1970, we moved back to his hometown of Knoxville where we have lived since. waiting to get back into the civil service workforce. (My children are all grown and I have 3 wonderful grandchildren.)
In December 1979, I went to work for the Department of the Army at the Military Entrance Processing Station. I worked there until March 31, 2007 and retired after 27 years of service. I had a total of 33 years civil service.
I'm happy with retirement and am thoroughly enjoying life. I feel extremely blessed as I have a good family, good friends, and good health. I visit family and friends in WV once or twice a year, usually in spring or fall, or both.
