Wilmer's Story
Dear Paula and friends:
Paula has requested that I tell my story and I shall try and do just that.
In the year of 1972 my family suffered a bad house fire and we were homeless for awhile; I remember the American Red Cross putting my family up in a hotel somewhere along Folsom street. I remember the hotel being right next door to a topless bar. The bar is not there anymore but the hotel may be still there. For those of you that may not know the members of my family there was six of us. ne. As quiet as it was kept, we lived on welfare or general assistance at the time. This was before mother had developed a drinking problem; and I can understand some, because she had be through so much do the best that she could by herself. Maybe that is why I took it to heart to be the oldies; at least that is what everyone in Lincoln Village still tell me today, 'Wilmer, I thought you was the oldies,' No it just happened that way. If I had my choice I would have coped out and taken a laid back role like my older brother Willie, but I had four little sibling to help take care while my mother was doing her thing.
I don't know if I should go with this story but if you would like to know more the ask me to go on and I will.
Much Love,
Wilmer
