I had not thought about it, but all of us were OHS until PHS opened...I lived RIGHT behind OHS for a while ...the school was my playground, I knew the principal, played in the gym, the outdoor fields, knew the athletes, coaches...I was kinda the gym-hog and loved it...then we moved to Pershing St and attended Sam Houston, then Bowie JH thru the 8th grade, I shot baskets every day with Dub Malaise...Bill Hardwick was my best friend, Toby Tripp, Molly Childers, Roxie Rasmussen, MJ Cox, and I remember James Thacker, mostly because he ran over me on the football field, regularly, in JH but I did stop him on the one-yard line on a two-point attempt and PHS beat OHS 13-12, I think... Then, I went from being the fastest boy in town to one of the slowest and my PHS years were mostly all for naught...we actually moved to Bonham St before PHS was built and I 'commuted' to Bowie JH my 8th grade yr, rode with Coach John Hoyle in the mornings and walked from Bowie JH home in the evening...but I did make it through college, BS Educ.....Expand for more
