Life

At first, I thought about being an English teacher and later decided to use my interest and abilities in sports and pursued a degree in physical education. I attended Purdue University and graudated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1977. After moving to Oklahoma and substitute teaching for a couple of years, I was hired as a P.E. teacher at Windsor Hills Elementary in the Putnam City School District. Central Oklahoma. In the late 1980's, I had the desire to continue my education and become a school principal. In 1992, I earned a doctoral degree in Education Administration from Oklahoma State University. My first administrative role led me to Chickasha, Oklahoma, where I served as principal at Grand Avenue Elementary for four years. I returned to Putnam City as principal at Apollo Elementary for two years and now have been principal at Ralph Downs Elementary for the past six years. I love what I do - especially working with students, teachers, staff and parents. You can view my school's website at: putnamcityschools.org (Ralph Downs Elementary)
I have two children; Lauren, age 18 and Brian, age 8.
