Yohana's Story

Here it is 2008: thought I would change my life history a little bit... 1969 finished high school... married Doug Brown 1 month later. We had a fairly good life, I suppose. We had three kids (2 sons and a daughter) by the time I was twenty six. I basically was a stay at home mom till Nikki ( they youngest) was one year old. I went to work for Kmart at that time. I started out in the domestics department and worked myself up to Merchandise Manager ( assistant manager) It only took me six years to become an assistant manager. I had to get over being so shy. Of course, it helped that I loved ordering merchandise and watching it sell. I was good at it but after ten years, I had a run in with a district manager so I walked out. ( I basically had a nervous breakdown. Kmart was like my family. I poured my heart and soul into the company.) After three months of trying to recover from my hurt, I went to work for Wal-mart for about 1/3 of what I was making at Kmart. In other words, I started all over. Of course, I am good at what I do, so I was moved to the health and beauty aids department within a month. I straightened out the department and watched it make its first $2,000,000. the second year I was in the department. After four years in the health and beauty aids, department, they were going to give me the garden center too. ( I never was much on gardening. ) The pharmacy was needing some help so I asked to go over there. They took me in a heartbeat so I became a pharmacy technician. We had to get certified in 2000 so I am now a registered pharmacy technician. I love it. I enjoy people ( that comes from growing up in the truck stop at Arkansas Jct.) I get along with the elderly ( which helps when working in my position) Anyway, I am still with Wal-mart ( 19 years now) That is my work history. Doug and I were married for 32 years before he passed away in September of 2001 from lung cancer. After that, I had to learn to deal with things on my own. ( never had that before.) I thought I was lonely so I met a man on the internet ended up marrying him ( big mistake) He is a nice guy. I just should not have remarried. He ended up with another internet girlfriend... moved ...Expand for more
to Michigan and married her. I married him in 2003 and divorced him in 2005. I felt like a big load had been lifted from my shoulders when I got the divorce. I like being on my own and going and doing when I want. My brother and I went on a motorcycle trip this last year ( 2007). It was lots of fun. I rode on the back but we saw a lot of country. We went to Washington D.C. but we went from here to Louisiana to Florida and up the East Coast. It was lots of fun. I got to see charlotte, S. Carolina. Arlington National Cemetery, the White house, then we went to Nashville, and to Memphis ( graceland), then to Branson, Mo. We had a nice bike ride in the spring and only got rained on twice. It was lots of fun. My oldest son has two children ( one being my only granddaughter ) I have five grandchildren. My daughter has the other three kids. My granddaughter is sixteen. Her brother is 14. My daughter's children are almost 13, 8 and 6. my daughter is in the USAF and is stationed in Las Vegas now. ( guess where vacation is going to be this year) She has spent 8 years in Okinawa though. I went over there twice. It is a nice place to visit. I got to see the Japanese Underground Naval center.I saw a lot of the culture over there and brought back a lot of souvenirs from there. Anyway, that has my life up to date. I enjoy my life and plan on doing some more traveling as time permits. I get four weeks of vacation this year and paid for five weeks starting next year... Now an update;; 2023 You would think that I would have quit or retired by now but here I am still counting pills at Wally World. Daughter has retired from military and lives in East Texas . Has her first grandbaby . My granddaughter has three boys now. Her brother has a baby boy too. Then my middle son married a girl that has four children. Her oldest daughter has 3 kids so that gives me 5 grandkids and not 8 great grandchildren. Out of that my oldest grandchild is a girl . then I have four grandsons. Now I have great grandhildren 1 girl and 7 boys. That is my life up to date.. oh yes now I have finally retired... been off work since December 15, 2023.. Maybe I can do some more fun things....
