Yvette's Story
recently engaged, new baby girl 6 months (born 3/3/08), and 15 yr old daughter. Went to UCLA and got my bachelor's and masters degree. But I first got my AA at Rio Hondo. Going through my ENTIRE college education as a single parent was tough! I know its surprising for many that I even went to college since many remember me dropping out of school and not returning until my senior year (I missed my sophomore/ junior year--too many ditching parties oops!). During that time I went to cosmotology school which allowed me to have a job at a salon once I graduated (No, I will not cut your hair!). hortly after graduation (trust me he did us both a favor!). I realized I had to be the provider and a positve role model for my daughter. Thus, I pursued my education full time while still working as a hairdresser to cover for expenses. Once I graduated, I worked as a geritatric social worker then as an investigative social worker in the emergency response unit for LA county. Both were tough but rewarding jobs.
Recently I moved from WLA to the San Bernardino area and staying home (I miss living close to the beach). For now staying home is what I want to do until I decide my next move. Im now happily engaged and looking forward our future.
