I work for the Canadian/American Spinal Research organization. I am the American representative for the organization. CSRO/ASRO is a non-profit organization that works with the National Hockey Association and its players concerning two programs, Shoot For A Cure and Play It Cool. Shoot For A Cure gets grants from various NHL teams and players for spinal research for people who have been paralyzed through an accident. t the organization is looking for a cure for spinal injuries in general. Play It Cool is the other program, which teaches children just learning to play hockey how to play the game with a strong physical presence, while still being safe (i.e., not hitting the boards straight-on with your head if you're being checked). We have at least two NHL player representatives from each team who help us out by promoting the program through coaches' videos, pamphlets, personal appearences, golf tournaments, etc. It's a terrific job for me since I love and play the game so much.
