Yvonne's Story

Life Since high school, i've spent close to 10 years in college. I moved to Long Beach for 5 years while i attended CSULB then moved back to the AV. I have an daughter who thinks she's 30 and a very rambunctious son (who looks just like my brother Luigi - he's even hyper like him.) Being their mom has been entertaining. What cracks me up the most about being a parent is that I have become my parents. And that Mother's curse? It does exist. Every once in awhile, i hear things come out of my mouth that i heard come out of my Mom or Dad. Sometimes when i am trying to discipline my kids, I start laughing mid sentence because in the recesses of my memory, i hear my mom or dad telling me the very same thing. History sure has repeated itself. Through all of these years, I have managed to keep my self single until 2002. I finally found some one who knows how to put up with me and all of my demands in life. I am HIGH maintainence and very protective of my daughter. I haven't let many into my life and especially my daughter's. For me to introduce her to a man in my life is HUGH. I met my match. Those closest to me are still in shock that I got married. Everyone, including myself, didn't think I would ever get married. I am still in denial about our marriage. I had a hard time changing my name, so hard that i hyphinated it. Now between my husband and myself, we have 3 daughters and a son. College I first went to AVC where I played volleyball for three years and revcieved my AA. My last year there i made All League - honorable mention, and to this day, i am still in the top ten record ...Expand for more
for stuffed blocks for both career and season (at the time i was there i was 3rd). Then I was off to CSULB - THE BEACH. CSULB was a complete blur. I was always late to my first class, mainly because i was too busy sleeping to make it. Life in the dorms was NOISY but fun. Then between classes, i would go the to library to study, but ended up sleeping instead. Unfortunately, my senior year - which lasted 3 years, i developed a sever case senioritis. I was caring an average of 15 units per semester, working full time, and was a single mom. I burned out (with 3 classes left for my degree) - so I came home to concentrate on my daughter and work. Workplace I started out with a company that I was at for 18 years. Many of you know where. I started that job working minimum wage, then to supervising, then to management and salary, and work too many hours. Because of my work, i have met a number of great people and have developed friendships that are wonderful. This is where I met the love of my life. He was part of one of the construction crew who re-modeled my store. Unfortunatly, since I have been promoted to the managment team, i work too many hours and as a result, have become horrible when in comes to staying in touch with many people. it's not that i don't think of you, i just let you know it. Now I have moved on to a new company where I am the store manager. I absolutely love my new job. i am my own boss and I have made strides with this company. My store has been recognized on several different occasions and I am proud of that. I hope to stay with this company for many more years.
