Yvonne's Story
Life
After high school I worked for a dentist in Lakewood as a dental assistant. I also worked at the Tacoma Mall in retail sales.
I then went to work for the Pacific National Bank of Wa. in Parkland. I worked there until I had children and became a stay at home mom. I did volunteer work at my children's schools and became very involved in a local youth center.
I then went to work for the Tacoma Stars Indoor Soccer Team. I worked there for 3 years as an Admin. Asst. When they closed down I worked for the Tacoma Soccer Center as Office Manager. My mother became ill with cancer and I took care of her until she passed away in 1998.
I have gone through breast cancer, but I am a survivor of 12 years!Other than that my health is pretty good other than the everyday aches and pains that we start to have at 62 years old!!!!
I have been married for 43 years (yep, to the same guy)! We live in downtown Puyallup. Built a house 9 years ago and love the neighborhood we live in. Can't walk alot now as I have a bad knee. Go to exercise 4 days a week but no treadmill. Having knee surgery in May and then I'm back to walking...Expand for more
!!!
We have 2 children. Tara is 37, She works for Tri Care Health. She and her husband have been married 14 yrs. and have 2 children. Ages 10 (Blake) and age 8 (Camryn). They are absolutely the best thing that has happened to Paul & I.
Courtney, our youngest is 34,working at the WA State Credit Union League Assoc. She and her husband have been married since Jan. 05 and have an 4 1/2 year old boy (Jacob). He is the other blessing in our lives.
Paul and I retired in 1998 and have been enjoying our life! We enjoy travelling and have fun in our classic Corvette (1962). We spend alot of time with our family and friends.
Paul was diagnosed in May of 07 with a terminal brain tumor. He is doing well with his treatment and we do one day at a time. Starting a new chemo in April 09. Hopefully this one will give us more time!!!
Other than being overweight, half blind and starting to be hard of hearing life is excellent.
Paul passed away on June 12, 2009. My life goes on however it is amazingly difficult. I have a beautiful family & loving friends who are keeping me busy. Trying to take a day at a time and move on.
