Yvonne's Story

January 11, 2009 Another eventful year has gone by. My eldest son got engaged in February, just before dad passed away and will be getting married this June!! There was the BCI reunion in the spring. It was fun to see people after so many years, there was a lot of laughter and we talked about getting together in the fall but that never happened. I was glad to have the school year end in June and hoped I would have some time for R&R during the summer!! That didn't happen. I had to go back to school for a couple of days to pack and move since I was moving portables....AGAIN!! Then I was off to visit and elderly friend in Napanee for a few days. Upon returning my daughter was busy getting ready for a yachting trip to Greece! How exciting, there was lots to do!! Then I took a week long Permaculture course at the Ecology Retreat Centre near Orangeville. I learned a lot and met interesting people. I had about a week to visit with family and get some things done for myself. My daughter returned from Greece only to say she was moving to London, UK to teach in September. What a shock!! She needed to go for her...and so the preparations began. The end of July I was off to Alberta to visit friends. I spent four whole days in Jasper and loved it. The scenery is breathtaking and the pace was slow and leisurely. Upon returning I was thrown into preparing for the school year, unpacking in 30 degree weather and no electricity! Just before the school year started I took part in an Enlightenment Intensive at the Ecology Retreat Centre. It was a restful end to the summer with time for quiet and contemplation. Upon returning home I learned my daughter had been in a car accident. She wasn't hurt badly, the car wasn't that lucky. All this 2 weeks before she was leaving for London. Was a wee bit stressful. The school year started, my daughter left and I was readjusting...again! I missed her terribly. The fall was busy with more responsibilities at school. My elderly friend, Maggie, in Napanee got sicker and was taken to hospital the end of October. I drove out to visit her for the weekend and two weeks later she took a turn for the worst. I took two days off and spent them with her as she passed away. I have really felt the loss of this special friend in my life as she was like a second mother to me. In the midst of this, report cards were due. They got done which I felt really good about. I am truly grateful to my family and friends for their love, support and understanding this last year!! xo December was a whirl of busyness!! By Christmas, I was totally exhausted. I missed my Dad, my daughter and Maggie. It was a quiet time and I ended up spending most of my times at mum's during the holidays. We had a lot of fun together....a real blessing. So now we begin a New Year with new opportunities and experiences awaiting us!! There really are infinite possibilities as we journey through life!! Who knows what 2009 holds in store for any of us...??? Until next time...take...Expand for more
care, be well...LIVE, LAUGH and LOVE completely!! Blessings...Yvonne *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* February 27, 2008 Well I've been back in Ontario since September 2006. My dad's health brought me back and he just passed away last week, on Family Day, surrounded by his family. An amazing experience!!! Now life goes on, in a new way. Since I've been back I've reconnected with Ana Reis, Gabe Pulpan and Orlando Nobrega. Was awesome!! ***************************************** Life Well...let's see...life sure has been quite the ride!!! I went on to Ryerson after Bloor and got a degree in Family Studies. Before I finished ...I got married in 1975. In 1978 my daughter, Andrea was born....what an exciting time! A couple of years (1980) later Yurij was born. As if they didn't keep us busy enough...I decided one more would be nice and Adrian was born in 1984. Family life and motherhood kept me pretty busy. Eventually I took up catering then...cake decorating...and then chocolate making. I had my own business, 'Special Creations by Yvonne' for about 5 years. Just as it was about to take off...I was accepted to the Faculty of Education...so off I went at 37 to become a teacher. That was quite the experience with 3 little ones. After 11 years of teaching...it just isn't the same. Not as rewarding as I had hoped. Got to the point where all I was ever doing was school work...7 days a week! I ventured out west, to Alberta, for holidays during the summer of 2002. I took a year's Leave of Absence and returned there to learn Applied Kinesiology. What an awesome course!!! That was extended to a second year's Leave of Absence. I also studied Brain Gym, BodyTalk and other things. Two and a half years later (March 2005) I'm still out west....living in St. Albert just outside of Edmonton. The pace of life is much different here, much quieter with lots of open space which I love! I'm into wholistic and alternative health care. Spirituality is very much a part of my life and has been for the past 10-15 years. I am on a constant journey of discovery, learning and growth! The learning never ends. Life is filled with all kinds of surprises, experiences, challenges and opportunities and what we make of them...or not! There are no accidents in life...it is filled with synchronicity if we pay attention. Things may not work out the way we want them to...although they usually work out just the way they need to. Starting life again in a new place, away from family, friends without stability or security has been quite the move! I am now substitute teaching for 4 school boards out here. I am enjoying it very much. Looking for a temporary or full time contract. My favourite place to go to is Jasper and to see the splendor of the mountains. Absolutely AWESOME!!! School School...seems like so long ago. Teen years, old friends, challenging times and exciting times! I sure wish I could track down Ana Reis...I would love to connect with her again!!!! Thanks to everyone who was a part of that experience!!!
