Yvonne's Story
Life
Unfortunatly South Shore has painful memories for me, I didn't even attend the prom, no senior trips, no afterschool activities ,had only a few friends who where also alienated by the majority and made to feel unwelcomed. This bio is dedicated Mr. Gluck /Personal Choices teacher at South Shore, who told me not to bother applying for college, "I didn't have what it takes to make it" It was not easy being a Latina at South Shore in 1979. I was constantly told to get on a boat and go back to my country despite being a third generation Puerto-rican American whose grand fathers, father, uncles and brother all fought as American Soldier...Expand for more
s for USA.Luckily I went on with my life and after South Shore I went on to get an Associates degree in Human Services, a Bachelors Degree in Social Work and then a Masters Degree in Social Work Administration. I also received a post masters degree in social work administration and a post masters diploma in supervision and training...Here's to you Mr. Gluck where ever you are, I did just fine. I was an honor roll student who thank god had parents who believed in me!!!!!To my 1979 south shore classmates I totally have no hard feelings if I would have been less shy and as confident as I am today many of you would have been great friends!!!
