In the spring of 1971 I moved to San Francisco and shared an apartment with Nora Collins my best friend. We had always talked about living in the city together and this was something I just had to get it out of my system. I started working for Industrial Indemnity Insurance Company in their workman¿s compensation department. I loved the city and working downtown was an experience I will never forget. We had great fun. However, city life was not for me and I moved back to Turlock and I started working at Emanuel Medical Center in October 1971 as their first Personnel Secretary. I set up the office and systems and later created and edited their first employee newsletter. I married Doug Edwards in 1972 and continued working at Emanuel until May of 1978 when my son Christopher was born. We restored old corvettes and helped start the first corvette club in Turlock.
