Zena's Story
Aloha everyone (interested),
I was born Zena (Abellira) at Kapiolani hospital
pre-T.H. My father was Irino (Reno) Abellira Sr. boxer/merchant marine, my mother is Leilani (Lee) Gilfoy, sister of Kui Lee the late composer of many iconic Contemporary Hawaiian songs you still hear today. My eldest brother Reno is the
"Big Wave Rider" retired professional surfer.
In my PK-2nd grade days I grew up in Wahiawa/ then to Waikiki in the early 60's. Surfing and acrobatic/tandem surfing as well as dancing hula at the International Marketplace. I attended Jefferson Elementary from 3rd-6th grade, Washington Intermediate 7th-9th, Kaimuki High 1968,
Roosevelt High 1969 and graduated RHS 1970, My first job was as a photography model/airport greeter before moving to Maui 1971-79. Went to MCC for awhile, I was organic farming, dancing and performing with a MCC modern jazz troupe, and modeling for an artist/painter named ...Expand for more
David Warren. I moved back to Oahu from 1979-85 and during that time, I was commercial modeling and did screen extra work on Magnum PI for 8 seasons along w/ other television productions. Then returned to Maui in 1985, met my husband Mark in 1986 we got married in 1991, moved to Arizona (where he's from) in 1993 for four years, got real homesick, we both moved back to Oahu in 1997.
I am presently still happily married w/ 1 hanai daughter 3 grandchildren. I teach Hawaiiana craft workshops at to hotel guests, and am also a, (mobile) Lomi practioner. My youngest sister Caron, and her husband Lance are both "Pastors" they founded our church, Revival Christian Fellowship in 1998, now known as the Wave RCF where I am very much involved in children's ministries, my husband is a AV tech we both multi task many areas.
