Zoltan's Story
Life. What to say in a couple of paragraphs?
I enlisted in the Army following high school and joined the Green Berets. After my first tour of duty, I enrolled at Ohio University and graduated on the longer plan. From there, I went back into the Army (teaching salaries--of which my degree was in--were low). I did another stint in the Army, peeked around to see what the "outside" offered (my only skills from O.U. were bartending, rugby, and a brief stint setting up stages for the Grateful Dead [no kidding]), and quietly remained in uniform. Most of my career has been in the Special Forces or the 101st Airborne Division, but the Army also sent me to graduate school and then on to West Point where I was an Assistant Professor of English. urgery and a broken back from a bad parachute "landing." I eat Motrin like my kids eat Flintstone chewables.
Published a few things--one of my stories is in a textbook at a college in Michigan, another in a book put out by Random House--been on CBS News, and lived in some distant lands; Iraq, Kuwait, Egypt, Korea, Italy and Germany. A few years ago, my wife and I visited Prague and visited family in Budapest and have since traveled the United States-- think Jeb Clampett and the Beverly Hillbillies--while the army moves us to different locations every 1-3 years.
Biggest accomplishment is that I still have the same best friends from high school, made many new friends, have stayed happily married (my point-of-view, not sure about my wife's feelings)and have three wonderful children.
Think I'll retire in a few years and sell Avon.
