Aaron's Story

The picture was taken in 2009 after coming back from Iraq.... After graduating from high school I worked for Midas until April of 1992 when I left for Navy Boot Camp in San Diego, CA. After Boot Camp I was stationed in Yokosuka, JP on the USS HEWITT (DD966) from AUG 1992 - FEB 1996 taking part in Operation Southern Watch and various other operations. I attended 9545 (Military Law Enforcement) School at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX and then transferred to Keflavik, Iceland where I spent 2 ½ years and toured all over Europe. I was able to go to Spain, England, France, Germany, Denmark, Italy and Greece while I was stationed there in Iceland. In 1999 I transferred back to Yokosuka, JP on the USS Vandergrift (FFG48) and was stationed on her for 4yrs attending 4805 (Chemical/Biological Warfare School in Fort Leonard Wood, MO.) During my time onboard 9/11 happened and was deployed to escort merchant ships thru the Straits of Hormuz and conduct Maritime boarding of ships (VBSS.) While in Singapore our ships personnel were targeted by terrorist to use bombs on motor bikes to blow up liberty buses, they failed. 2002 transferred to San Diego to attend 9502 (Naval Instructor School) with a follow on school 4811 (Senior Enlist Damage Control Program and Management Specialist School) and then my command at ATGWP Fire Fighting School where I was for 3½ years teaching ship board personnel how to combat fires, it was a blast. In 2005 I transferred to San Diego onboard USS Lake Champlain (CG57) while on board her I was deployed to protect oil terminals in Iraq during Operati...Expand for more
on Iraqi Freedom. Was on her for little over 4 years and was so happy to leave. In 2009 I was stationed back here in Yokosuka, JP again at ATGWP as a ship rider. I would evaluate the ships ability to combat fires and other forms of damage that they might incur. The best part was landing and being shot off of the carrier, USS George Washington. I retired in 2012 when the Navy was no longer fun and the politics just made life hell. I have seen and done things that most people will have never. I do regret a few things, but hell it makes us who we are. While doing all of this in the Navy I have an associates in Sociology and a BS in Public Administration with a minor in Applied Marine Engineering. Not bad for a cross eyed white boy from Colorado. Places I have been to: Korea, Hong Kong, China, Macau, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Yemen, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Egypt, Israel, United Arab Emirates, Guadalcanal, Pakistan, Sir Lanka, Iceland, Spain, England, France, Germany, Denmark, Italy, Greece, Russia, Sinai Peninsula and a few more I am sure I have forgot I work for the US Government here in Yokosuka, JP on the Navy Base at SRF-JRMC as a Production Controller in charge of CNO Modernizations for Flight I DDG's. With my pay and retirement life is good. I have 5 kids the oldest being 21 and the youngest 10. Built a house here and for the cost of it, I could have bought 2 houses of the same size in the states. I hope that everyone is doing well........ Drop me a line would love to see how and what others are up to.
