Adrian's Story

Life Well, short and sweet does the trick, I guess...so here we go!! After graduating West Humber C.I., I went to York University for my degree in political science. However, being the goody two-shoes that I was in highschool meant that all my rebellion came out while in University...let's just say that it took me a little longer than 4 years to complete my degree... After that, I worked at the Ontario Science Centre, among many other places--most good, some bad, and some horrible ( the CN TOWER--nice place to visit..hellacious to work for). Went back to school, and got my B.Ed degree ( primary junior specialization), and taught for a very short while before realizing that teaching wasn't for me although I did very well at Teachers College ( University of Windsor). While all of this was going on, I applied for a job as Dispatcher for the Toronto Fire Department--which I managed to get--out of 600 people applying!! Hey, I sometimes don't believe it myself! I've been working there for over 5 years now, and I love it. The money is good, benefits decent, and the time off great. Hopefully, I will get to hear from some of you on THIS website, not at the other end of a 911 call...*smile* So far, I've been to Paris, New York, L.A., San Francisco, Washington D.C., and Vegas ( with Tokyo) being my next major trip. Though, I LOVE NYC, and have often thought about living there, I'm content to stay in Toronto for now. As for school? As much as I love my job, the shift work can get tedious...so hopefully it will be BACK to school in late 2007 for my Master's in Public Administration so I can continue using my Poli-Sci degree and continue working for the city. I'm lucky that I'm being allowed a year off (YIPPEEE!!!!)...Expand for more
to do this. Wow, this is taking a lot longer than I thought it would--though, I'm not surprised...I never did know how to stay within an essay limit at school...why should I start now? And at the risk of this sounding like a personal add...I love long walks along the beach...KIDDING. But I am single, and kind of loving it/hating it all at the same time. And no dependents either, well, not to my knowledge, anyway! As for the stuff I do in my spare time, when I'm in front of a computer and on the phones at work? Love to cycle, travel, listen to music--all kinds, but especially jazz, pop, classical, dance and just relax with my friends, and watch classical movies. Well, I think I've been typing enough--I would LOVE to hear from some of you--see what's been going on your lives, and just to shoot the shi...breeze (rhymes with febreeze) And hey, memory lane is no fun when you travel it by yourself, right? I know I really should proofread this bio, and believe me, if it were being marked by Mr. Gray...it would be!! Anyone else remember the hatchet job he'd do? I still can't look at green ink without remembering that...but he WAS a great teacher! He's one of the reasons that if I ever go back to teaching, English is what I would love to specialize in. However, before I go...a personal thought. Mark Twain said "Twenty years from now, you'll be more disappointed by the things that you DIDN'T do, than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour.Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover" That pretty much sums up my view on life. I hope that everything is going well with all of you out there in cyberspace, and I hope to hear from you soon. Peace.
