Aimee's Story
Life
Things have gone well for me these last few years. After moving to California for my Sr. year of high school, I went on to college, studying Journalism with a minor in pre-law at Califoria Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. I graduated in 2005. I hope to continue on to law school to, as I'm sure you've guessed, earn a law degree. I have an interest in both civil rights and privacy law, but have no idea what I'll do once I pass the bar. In the mean time, I'm working as a freelance writer and a content manager for a Web publishing company near San Francisco.
I was happily married July 16, 2005 in Monterey, CA. Ry and I had been together nearly 6 years. He also graduated from Cal Poly and now works as a materials engineer for GE Nuclear Energy near Fremont. We have no plans for kids (we enjoy travelling and splurging too much!), but we're adopting a dog in Jan. 2006.
I am incredibly active politically! I've become tremendously liberal in my views, particularly in matters of abortion, the environment, the economy, and gay rights. I worked very hard on the Edwards campaign during the primaries, and then for Kerry during the general election. I cannot stress enough how important politics are to me, and this passion will undoubtedly affect my career and life choices in the future.
I've taken to a number of hobbies... photography, learning the guitar, kickboxing, etc. No-contact kickboxing, that...Expand for more
is... Ryan and I are both very physically active and do what we can to take care of ourselves. I lost about 40 lbs after graduating high school. It's amazing how it always seems to work out that way... you begin to take better care of yourself the day you stop worrying about your social image! Anyway, we're both healthy, happy and consider ourselves successful!
College
I studied Journalism at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA, earning my BS in 2005. I took additional media law and pre-law track courses with the intention of going on to law school, but really enjoy being the content manager for a Web publishing company. I actually make money writing! I've also been fortunate enough to experiment in online marketing and create online advertising campaigns for a number of different clients. Our site topics include: child education/homework help, adult education, dating and romance, financial services, home services and autos.
Workplace
I've signed on full-time with Remilon, the Web publishing company I initially signed on with during a required journalism internship. I get paid to write! I am the content manager, which means I, not surprisingly, manage the content on our sites and the writers who create it. I write when need be, but have been spending more time working with online marketing and advertising campaigns. It's a great industry and I'm pleased with the opportunities (and money) that comes along with it.
