Aimée's Story

Life Upon graduation, I did my first year of college at good ol' AC. It was an interesting year, to say the least. I transferred to Texas Tech University that next year, and began my sophomore year here in Lubbock at the best school in the nation. ;o) I began my major in Chemistry/Biology under the Pre-Med program here at Tech. I loved every bit of it, but somehow, something was off. My junior year, at the advice and counsel of my truly magnificent advisor, I switched my major to the College of Human Sciences and began a program study under Human Development with a specialization in Child Life Specialty (CLS). I loved the program and primarily wanted to focus on working with special needs infants, either in a hospital setting or private practice. I also really wanted to work with terminally ill children, as there is such a need for CLS in that area of medicine. Now I am looking at going to nursing school to further advance my career, and I truly believe that a nursing degree would really propel me in the medical profession. I would be able to do so much more than I would as a CLS, and that definitely interests me. There is such a need for nurses, but only a few positions for CLS here in Lubbock. I'm still actively involved in music. The job I took as a part-time college kid has hired me on full time and promoted me to head of marketing and music education for the local scene here in Lubbock. It is a fun job -- very rewarding, mostly because it keeps me involved in music, which is a passion of mine. I still sing and play piano and guitar. I have recorded a CD and I write songs and compose music, mostly for my own enjoyment. The best thing about Lubbock, though, is the people. I've met many a dear soul here, both at Texas Tech and elsewhere. I met my husband here 7 years ago, and we were married on...Expand for more
September 24th, 2005! He is truly a wonderful man -- definitely a gift from God. His name is Cory Rogers, and he is a fellow Lubbockite, born and raised. After he graduated, he spent his freshman year here at Texas Tech while I was at AC. He then transferred to Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, and I came here. We just missed each other! I met and began dating one of his friends, and that is how I first met Cory. We lost touch after he moved to Abilene... until about two years ago. He had graduated from Hardin Simmons and was moving back to Lubbock, and we crossed paths again. It was a beautiful experience to be around him, after so many years of missing his friendship. After things didn't work out with his friend and I, I often wondered about Cory. Anyway, long story short (too late!) we decided to try the dating thing, and on November 5, 2004 (my birthday!), after a year of dating, he asked me to be his wife! Of course I said yes, because we are now "just married!" We're both thinking we should have eloped, though! Too late! Heh. Update: After being married 4 months, we found out we are going to be parents! Although we were not planning to have children so soon, we are definitely blessed so much by this gift from God and we are excited at what this new addition to our family will come to mean to us! Already, we have a love for this child we have yet to meet, but we know that love will grow once we do finally meet! I am due in October 2006 -- shortly after we will celebrate our first anniversary as man and wife. It is so hard to believe that when I think about it! Life moves so fast some times... but what a blessing it is to have that life. :o) To learn more about what I've been up to, visit: picturetrail(dot)com/satine livejournal(dot)com/users/ladybugbleu or aimeerogers(dot)com
