Alan's Story
Life
After graduation from Mills, I attended San Mateo Jr. College and eventually graduated from San Jose State January 1966 as a Business Major. I married the absolutely beautiful Sherri Bender of San Mateo in 1967. We have three fabulous children, all grown and successful. I picked a couple of fields that were not me. I worked in retail management and then the Insurance underwriting field and was tranferred to Nebraska in 1970. We lived in Omaha for three years, then moved back to Calif. I entered the field of working with those with Developmental Disabilites in the early 70's and continue today. niversity. I'm very active in the local Lutheran Church. Most fun is playing the drums in the contemporary band. As shy as I was in high school, surprisingly, I read in front of the congregation and even gave a sermon. Five years in toastmasters helped me greatly when we lived 8 years in North Dakota. Sherri & I have been married for 37 years. Sherri was in restaurant management, and now is our church secretary. God has a plan for all of us.
