Alan's Story
Life
Alan possesses a thorough background in fire & emergency services and safety and health regulatory compliance with both General Industry and Construction experiences. Alan has been involved with fire, rescue, emergency medical services, law enforcement, telecommunication, and hazardous materials mitigation and response for over 30 years. This involvement has included response as well as training program development, delivery, and supervision for various agencies and organizations. Alan also has a background in radio broadcasting with years of experience as a DJ and Assistant Chief Engineer supervising FCC regulatory compliance of top rated AM/FM operations. He is an Amateur Radio Operator, licensed since 1978, with the callsign of KA4ADF. AlanÂs formal education includes Associate of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees from Eastern Kentucky University in Fire and Safety Engineering Technology with an option in Industrial Risk Management. Alan also owned with his own company (4SAFE-T: Training & Consulting Specialists, LLC) providing safety and health training and consulting services from 1991 to 2002. Alan has served as Corporate Safety Director for a large commercial construction firm with offices in Cincinnati & Columbus, OH and Louisville, KY. Alan worked as an Industrial Safety Consultant Specialist with the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation, Employer Management Services in the Hamilton Service Office for several years. Alan has presented on various related topics at conferences, seminars, and universities around the country. He serves as an advisory committee member of Construction Management and currently teaches Construction Safety at Northern Kentucky University. He also teaches Construction Safety Management at the University of Cincinnati. Alan is now single and resides in Hamilton, OH and works full-time as a Safety Director for a large design-build construction firm in downtown Cincinnati, OH.
