Alana's Story
Life
Divorced after a great 19 year marriage, still in Anchorage,Alaska. One son that is 10 years old. I work in a small office and have a great boss. Wearing jeans and casual wear to work is awesome! I really use all that math and writing we dreaded learning in school...so tell your kids to pay attention...we really do need it. Currently I work with our contracts for big oil (BP, ConocoPhillips) and manage accounts for all the subcontractors.
My mom and dad still live here in Anchorage. I still run into the Dimond High School folks around town. Amazing how small this town really is!
College
Loved college at UAA. I was working full time and doing really good with a 4.0 GPA....and then I had a hard time staying awake and keeping interested. I thought I was sick with the flu...but...the stork was coming and I found out we were going to have a baby. Never did go back and wished I would have, but today I would not trade my life for anything. I made it two years...I guess that is at least a taste.
Workplace

ew interesting jobs, few fun ones, one really stinky one and now one that finally pays well and includes the greatest boss in the world. For many years I worked at Fred Meyers around town. It was fun to run into many folks, very fun with great people and lots of excercise. I made many friends there that I still have in my life. Then I went to work for National Bank of Alaska/Northland Credit Division in town. That was interesting. We called it last chance finance, and I worked collections on 30+ day accounts. I learned SO much about finance and what to do to stay out of financial ruin...amazing how some just don't care about their bills. I got tired of that about the time my son came along so took a year off. Now I work at Alaska Valve & Fitting in Anchorage. We sell stainless steel valves, fittings and other items to the slope and utilities statewide. Soon we are setting up a shop in Sakhalin Russia...so maybe one day I will get to travel there to set up shop and see a different part of the world. My passport is ready!
