Alex's Story
Life
I went to Shadow Mountain High School in Phoenix Arizona from 72-78 and later graduated with a Master's degree in Computer Science from ASU, specializing in Computer Graphics. I have great memories of Shadow Mountain, especially the friendships that were started and have lasted since then. It was a small, and new school, that started with just freshman and sophomores. Thus, for the most part, everyone knew each other during our four years.
I had been living in Asia-Pacific (Japan, Singapore) since '92 until '08. I am married to a Japanese woman - my life partner! Together we're raising my daughter Hana, from my first marriage. We lived in downtown Tokyo from and enjoyed our life very much. We've been living in San Francisco since June 2008 and enjoying this city as well...Expand for more

I was a Vice-President for Alias Systems, and later Autodesk, during the majority of my stay in Asia-Pacific. Alias developed software (PowerAnimator, Maya) that was used to create 3D animation and special effects for virtually every major film that's won an Academy Award for special effects (e.g., Jurassic Park, Lord of the Rings).
My most memorable achievements at Alias was starting and building the Asia-Pacific operations from scratch, winning an Academy Award, and achieving a high degree of growth that triggered a large software company (Autodesk) to buy the company.
Now I'm working with a new start up in San Francisco, again in computer graphics.
I hope my return to the USA will give me more opportunity to get in touch and meet with my friends from Shadow Mountain.
