Alexander's Story
It has been quite a ride since SCCI ! I interrupted my college studies to work , etc. and did not complete my BES degree and post-grad studies in Mechanical Engineering until 1969 . My first professional employer was at Chalk River Nuclear Laboratories of AECL . In 1975 I accepted a position with Westinghouse Nuclear Europe in Brussels, Belgium , then was transferred to Westinghouse Nuclear in Pittsburgh 3 years later . I've authored two major reports (several hundred pages) published by the Electric Power Research Institute , hold patents , and have presented papers at the International Water Conference.
Some of you may remember Harold Aronovich - I ran into him at a power plant water seminar in Scottsdale Az. in the 1990's . Small world ! My work has taken me to assignments in Belgium , Spain , Sweden , Switzerland , France , Germany , Czechia , Japan , Korea , Taiwan and Brazil , as well as Canadia...Expand for more
n reactors in Ontario and Quebec , and many US PWR's in PA, OH, NJ, CT, NH, SC , NC, IL, AR, CA, OR, VA, FL, AL, LA, MO, WI, and NY , One of my less glorious tasks was scraping Crud samples from highly radioactive fuel bundles during refueling outages . Due to heat and stress , I would lose as much as 9 pounds of sweat in a single day on those campaigns . I've been fully retired since about 2002 . About two years after the sudden death of my late wife Darla (who some of you may have met at the 2005 reunion ) , I met and married a lovely Colombian lady and split my time between FL and Pereira , Colombia - a virtual garden of Eden . I have three children and nine grandchildren , all in happy , stable homes . God has blessed me richly .
Addendum: In exchange for taking photos of Craig Breedlove's AMX and airplane at the Bonnevile Salt Flats in 1969 , he took me for a ride at close to 180 mph in the AMX .
