Alexandra's Story
Life
My life has been very blessed since high school. I have been married since 1997 to the most wonderful man in the world, who treats me like a princess. I am the new mommy of my own little princess, Isabella Gianna Vertti (D.O.B. 02/25/07) and I am also the proud step-mom of my beautiful 14 year old identical twin step-daughters, Allyson & Merisa. I have been employed with the County of San Bernardino Social Services since 1996, where I am a counselor. I still keep in touch with some of my fellow classmates from Ike. My best friend from Ike, Jennifer Harvey (now Gonzales) and I are still very close and we see and/or talk with each other on a daily basis. I truly hope everyone else has been as lucky in life as I have. Hit me up on MySpace!
School
I have so many fond memories of my school days. I had wonderful experiences and made lasting friendships that I maintain to this day. I was fortunate to have had some extremely creative and compassionate teachers that were instrumental in molding me into the successful (in my opinion) person I am today. I truly hope that my own children are as lucky as I was.
I still in keep touch with a couple handfuls of people from school. My 2 best friends from school (Jennifer Harvey and Michelle Leitao) continue to enrich and bless my life. They are part of my family. Hey girls, don't ever forget...chimichangas, funyuns, NY seltzers, Bakers, Tony's onion rings, Beverly Hills 90210, Smooth and Creamy, slumber parties, all our crushes and everything else that made our school days (and nights) worthwhile!!!
College
What can I sa...Expand for more
y about my college days? It was so unlike high school and really broadened my horizons and perceptions of the world. The first college I attended was Monterey Peninsula in Monterey, CA. The surroundings were breathtaking. Ocean on all 3 sides, waves crashing and pounding against the threshold of the universe, the smell of salt and sunshine lingering in the air, sea otters and seals dotting the wharf and sea shore. But inside, the institution was all academics. I met some awesome people and had some very cool experiences, but my time there was short lived. I next attended RCC in boring Riverside, CA. Not much too say about my time there except that I got an education :o) My only regret about college is not obtaining my BA.
Workplace
I am so lucky to have had the best work experiences thus far. I was 18 when I got my first job which was as a salesperson for a cosmetic/fragrance shop. I then began working as an office assistant for the County of Riverside. This is where I met my wonderful husband! In January of 1996 I moved onto the County of San Bernardino where I have been ever since. I have been so fortunate to have landed such a rewarding and meaningful position. I am a counselor in a federally funded, comprehensive employment preparation program. Basically we help prepare recipients of public assistance to move into self-sufficiency by helping them to remove barriers they may have including but not limited to: domestic violence, mental health, substance abuse, etc. I love my clients, but even more so I love my co-workers. They are an extended family to me.
